Lagos Jazz Series kicked off on Friday the 28th of November with veterans and legends who shaped the genres of Rock, Highlife, Afrobeat and Reggae. The first day at Muri Okunola Park, V.I, Lagos, we sat on the grass and where taken back in time as we listened to classic hits from the past.

Lagos Jazz series was opened by the highlife veteran Orlando Julius who performed a song.
The opening act was historical as a popular band that rocked the Nigerian scene Wrinkars Experience came on stage. Guess what the band hadn’t performed in 37 years. Wrinkars Experience existed from 1972-1973 creating two hits ‘Money To Burn’ and the evergreen ‘Fuel For Love’.

The next act was Nigeria’s greatest Reggae singer Majek Fasek. Immediately he came on stage, the crowd went bonkers as they gathered to the front of the stage to see the iconic singer perform.

Majek Fashek kicked off his performance. It was brilliant I mean for someone like me who knows nothing about reggae. He gave a solid performance and of course he had to end it with the rainmaker ‘Send Down The Rain’.

The closing performance was done by Orlando Julius who’s performance was equally amazing.
